Southern Caribbean Cruise Vacation: Departure Day!

Today is the big day! We have planned this vacation for more than two years and we are finally ready to take off for 12 days of fun! We started the day with a quick half day at work, then shot home to finish packing bags and loading up the car. The other half of the cruise group met up with us on the way to our first stop of the trip; a little German Restaurant called Speisekammer in Alameda, CA. As some may know, Yasmin and I first met when we lived in Germany as our fathers were stationed there while serving in the military. One thing we are both passionate about is German food. I cannot tell you how awesome it was to find a restaurant, in the U.S., that served German food in a German setting, and do it right. We tried several imported German beers straight from the tap. We ordered potato pancakes for appetizers and Jager Schnitzel for main courses. We topped it all off with Apple Strudel for dessert. Needless to say, it was all amazing!

Departure Day!

After a quick lunch, we got back in our cars and shot over to Union Square in San Francisco, CA. We went to a favorite bar of ours called the Golden Gate Tap Room. We like this bar because of the blinding array of domestic, craft and imported beer selections they have, both bottled and on tap. They also have several pub games for everyone to play like pool, darts, table soccer, and more! We stayed and drank away several hours at the Tap Room before we headed down the road to SFO to make our flight.

In closing, it was a good way to start the vacation. Some good German food, followed by drinks and fun in the city. The next time you are in Alameda or San Francisco, be sure to check out these two spots for good food and fun! Also, be sure to head over to the vacations tab of the website to view vacation specials and quick tips for travel, and contact us when you are ready for your own amazing vacation!

We will be back tomorrow for more vacation fun!
